Fitzy's Official Backyard Cricket Rules are In!
The Ultimate Summer of Cricket competition has officially wrapped up, and we’re thrilled to announce the 10 winning backyard cricket rules! These standout submissions have earned their place in Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald’s Official Backyard Cricket Rulebook, and will be in play across Discovery Parks all summer, ensuring epic cricket moments at our parks nationwide.
Check out the rules below!
#1 – You can’t get out on your first ball. – Michelle F, Melbourne
#2 – Underarm for under 10s is allowed. – Adrienne W, Brisbane
#3 – No LBWs; but if it hits your leg, you have to run! – Anh D, Sydney
#4 – No six and out! However, if you hit the ball over the cabins, you MUST be the one who goes to fetch it! – Irina E, Sydney
#5 – If the ball comes off a roof, a one-handed catch means the batter is out – Nicholas C, Berwick (VIC)
#6 – If the ball lands in the pool on the full, you’re out – Lyn R, Belmont North (NSW)
#7 – If you hit a caravan, car, tent or person on the full, you’re out! – Judi D, Melbourne
#8 – One hand, one bounce or two bounces and a headbutt, YOU’RE OUT! – Rachel B, Melbourne
#9 – One handed hit equals double runs – Ben H, Adelaide
#10 – Everyone gets a bat and a bowl, and EVERYONE gets involved! – Colleen D, Melbourne
